Dreaming and more dreaming. Just for kicks (and to get a true perspective) we taped off an 11x23 ft (internal dimensions of the house) rectangle in our living room. Yes, our new house would fit in our living room!!

So, here is it. From the line that Little Man is crawling to the wall behind the tree is 11 ft....from the windows to about where I took the pic from is 23 ft. Our entire living space will be in that area with 2 sleeping lofts. I love to see it, but it is kinda scary. Can we do it? Can we truly live in a space that small with 2 kids without driving each other batty? It will be an adventure, that is for sure! I can't wait to get started, to do something more complex than just tape on the floor ;)

Yeah, I am obviously not the best at keeping up with a blog. But before I only had dreams, far away dreams. Now I have dreams that are MUCH closer. We have new plans. We are going to build a tiny house. Currently the plan is a 12x24 gambrel style house with 2 sleeping lofts. We will get one loft, the kids in the other. Downstairs will be kitchen, living, dining, and a full bathroom. Interior space will be 11x23....making it a total of 253 sq ft (not counting the lofts). I am SO excited! Right now we are in the planning stages. We are trying to work out the little details like what style stairs will we have and bigger details such as should we use 2x6's or 2x8's in the floor.

This is going to be an adventure! I plan to keep a really good list of what everything costs along the way and good pictures of progress. I "will" blog about it! I want to inspire! I want to show that it IS possible to live in a tiny house, even if you do have kids!

Speaking of kids....Boo is now 2.5 and Little Guy is almost 1! Man, where is the time going?? Here is a pic of the cuties.

land prospects

One thing that has been weighing heavy on our hearts and minds is moving. We have been very fortunate to be where we are right now, but we are ready to move on. We want to buy our own land and build our own dream house. We have a realtor and have seen a few different pieces that we like. But there is one that we are really loving right now. It is about 9 miles from our little town, down 2 miles of dirt road, and has an easement through a land in front of it. 10 acres for a good price though, in a location with very few neighbors (one HUGE factor for us!) So this week I will be researching the land...are there any restrictions? What exactly does the easement mean? We have lots to learn. I ado have my hopes set on this one though.

My first post

So what is a blog without a first, useless post? Why am I posting? Because I just started a blog and I am excited to get started of course! We are a family of 4...dad, mom, Boo, and Little Guy. Boo is nearly 2 now and she is a firecracker, full of a beautiful blooming personality. Little Guy is new here, he is 10 weeks old. Mom and dad, yeah we are the boring people and you won't hear much about us. This blog will be about raising country kids in a modern world. It will be about what we do and what we like, our hobbies and our dreams. I hope this will be a place that we can write about our journey to a sustainable lifestyle, and maybe help educate others along the way. So come on in and learn from our mistakes and dream with us!
